Brenham, Texas, [June 22, 2018]– REM Surface Engineering has been selected to receive Phase I funding through the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.  REM Surface Engineering’s proposal, “Internal/External Surface Finishing of Additively Manufactured IN-625 Components”, was the first attempt at being awarded the $125,000 (SBIR) Phase I grant from NASA. SBIR awards are highly competitive research-based programs that provide U.S. small businesses the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research, development, and commercialization.  Phase I of the SBIR program emphasizes important technological challenges and allows small businesses to propose new innovative solutions to address them.

REM Surface Engineering expresses their sincere appreciation to Subcontractors: Rich Merlino, Addaero Manufacturing, LLC and Supporting Vendors: Faraday Technology, Inc., Keystone Synergistic Enterprises, LLC, Electron Microscopy Innovative Technologies, LLC, Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research, Inc.  Their support and services were essential in Phase I of SBIR Funding.  “This is an incredibly exciting partnership between REM Surface Engineering and NASA”, Nathan Michaud said, “and the fact that we were honored to receive our first-ever Phase 1 SBIR award in response to our first proposal speaks highly of our commitment to Research and Development and the quality of our research team.”
