FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brenham, Texas – Lead Additive Manufacturing Scientist, Agustin Diaz, from REM Surface Engineering, successfully presented at ASTM International Conference on Additive Manufacturing (ASTM ICAM 2021), hosted by the ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence, held November 1-5, 2021 in Anaheim, CA.   REM presented on three additive topics including The Effects of Surface Finishing on Mechanical Performance of L-PBF Nickel-Based Superalloys by Dr. Agustin Diaz in collaboration with NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Surface Finishing of Non-traditional AM Alloys Commonly Used in Liquid Rocket Engines by Dr. Agustin Diaz in collaboration with NASA Marshall Space Center and A6061-RAM2:Novel Postprocessing Development to Enable Flight Hardware by Justin Michaud in collaboration with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Elementum 3D.

“For me, the ICAM conference is one of the most critical meetings in the field,” says Agustin Diaz. “Great content with the latest topic in the field, showcasing the AM technology challenges and newly developed solutions. In addition, the central focus on standardization, qualification, and certification with an emphasis on industrial requirements makes this conference one of the most critical events in the AM field. I am pleased to be part of this community, particularly the ASTM Committee F-42, and a contributor to the Center of Excellence. This year we presented three different talks on the surface characterization and finishing of different metal AM components (nickel-based superalloy, iron-nickel based superalloys, GRCop-42, GRCop-84, and Al 6061 RAM2) produced by different technologies (Blown Powder-Direct Energy Deposition and Laser-Powder Bed Fusion) and the implication of the surface texture (as-built vs. surface finished) on their mechanical and corrosion resistance properties.”
