Brenham, Texas, [January 26, 2018] – REM was a proud presenter at BGA’s recent Wind Turbine Gearbox Technology Training event on December 7, 2017.

The British Gear Association is a trade organization that promotes the technical and commercial interest of manufacturers, distributors, academics, and others involved in the power transmission industry in the United Kingdom.  The BGA offers support to members when needed with frequent events such as Wind Turbine Gearbox Technology Training at their facility within Newcastle University.

REM’s very own, Martin McCormick, gave a presentation on the four primary damaged gear remediation strategies: Regrinding, Hand Working, New Gear Replacement & Isotropic Superfinishing. The training introduced the strengths and weaknesses of each of these four options as well as the importance of accurately determining the depth of damage to more effectively identify the optimal gear repair option.

According to McCormick, an improved understanding of the various gear repair options, basic understanding of what isotropic superfinishing is, and what this technology can or cannot do, is vital when selecting your replacement path.
