REM Surface Engineering Awarded Phase II SBIR Funding Program from NASA

Brenham, Texas, [May 21, 2019]– REM Surface Engineering has been awarded Phase II research funding through the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. This award continues a key research partnership with NASA and their work with advanced materials and additive manufacturing. This Phase II award will provide funding for an additional 24 months of continued development on REM’s technology for the post-process surface finishing of additively manufactured nickel-based superalloys, targeting further advances to Inconel® 625 components, and expanding to include applications on Inconel® 718, Hastelloy® X components as well as potentially other similar alloys. Deliverables will include an equipment solution for the outsourced processing of components for NASA and other government/private entities. Phase I funding for REM Surface Engineering’s proposal, “Internal/External Surface Finishing of Additively Manufactured IN-625 Components”, was awarded in June 2018 with the submission of final reports and deliverables on February 15, 2019. REM successfully completed of 100% of all objectives.
