Brenham, Texas – REM Research is excited to announce that we have welcomed two talented Research Chemists to our team in Brenham, Texas.  Dr. Tanya Mikulas and Dr. Josh Boykin will work to support the development, adaptation, and optimization of our advanced ISF® and Extreme ISF® processing technologies to meet the needs of our rapidly growing catalog of services for the Additive Manufacturing market.

“We are extremely excited about the addition of both Dr. Mikulas and Dr. Boykin, states Vice President of Technology, Lane Winkelmann.  “Their combination of industrial and academic experience will be a great complement to the REM AM team, and to the company as a whole.  The AM post-processing field is growing at a very fast pace to meet the needs of the industry.  This is another example of REM making investments to stay at the forefront”

Dr. Tanya Mikulas was born in Iowa and was part of the team that developed the first computerized dispatch system in the world for mid-sized fleets in Madison, WI. In 2008, she earned her BS in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia. She attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa beginning in 2008, earned an MS in experimental physical chemistry studying unimolecular rectification in 2012, and Ph.D. in computational chemistry with a background in chemical hydrogen fuel storage in 2015. She 3D printed the parts to build a 3D printer in 2012, enjoys big challenges, and is excited to be on the front edge of 3D printed metal surface finishing.

Dr. Joshua Boykin is a research chemist with an extensive background in materials and surface chemistry.  Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Boykin obtained his BS in Chemistry at Marlboro College where he received the President’s Scholarship and wrote his senior thesis on photovoltaic technologies.  He then completed his Ph.D. at Clark University in 2017 where his research was focused on the synthesis on the characterization of organic-inorganic hybrid nanomaterials and earned the Anthony Theoharides Award for Excellence in Teaching and Research.  After taking a teaching position at Paul Smith’s College for the 2017-2018 academic year, he was then a postdoctoral research associate at Sandia National Laboratories where he specialized in shear thickening fluids for ballistics applications.  Dr. Boykin is extremely excited to help REM continue to advance its expertise in surface finishing for AM materials.
